P LAB Recordings proudly welcomes Seattle based DnB veteran D-Struct to the family with his Turing Test EP, a sonic exploration of modern tech Drum & Bass while honouring the evolution of the sound since its inception in the 90’s.

Turing Test, featuring Jaise from Australia, opens the EP with a spacious mood packed with intrigue. Blippy synths and throbbing mids swirling to a turnaround that launches this EP into top gear early. A nice dancefloor stepper with impeccable bass design and movement.

On Organism he teams up with Jaise again to offer a rolling, rhythmic feast for the lovers of tech funk. An intro arp builds immense tension before the vocal ‘another kind of organism’ drops us in a landscape which is an homage to all things sci fi. Heavy mids, throbbing bass, running drums, chord stabs and acid techno edits made for a solid trip, bubbling along like an evolving bacteria.

Overlaps opens with syncopated chord stabs and builds to a fast paced tunnel screamer. Linear in motion, as new sections emerge we enter new rooms and explore vast depths all while being carried by a strong central idea. The finer details and arrangement in this show a level of musicianship outlining D-Struct is not just an incredible engineer but also an accomplished musician.

Perfectly rounding out this 4-tracker is Perception which takes deep to a new level. The airy evolving chords are beautifully anchored by a rhythm section that is rock solid and apparent throughout this whole EP. As we progress through this track we’re introduced to many versions of a recurring theme that is both energetic and a celebration of masterful compostion.

D-Struct offers a clean, cohesive and energetic record, masterfully executed in a way that we embrace at P LAB Recordings.
